In normal times, we rehearse in Guildford town centre on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, generally during term-time, and there may be extra rehearsals in the week before and on the day of a concert.
Obviously, things have been rather different of late, but at our AGM held last summer via Zoom, choir members were delighted to hear that rehearsals would be starting back in September, as we'd promised.
Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our librarian, almost everyone was equipped with their scores in time to begin work on the new season's repertoire, and we were able to run several successful rehearsals at the beautifully refurbished and Covid-secure Guildford Baptist Church at Millmead, before once again returning to lockdown.
We returned to Millmead in December, with live streaming from home available for those members who felt happier with this option. It was exciting to be able to share our last rehearsal of the term with friends and family via YouTube - watch again here.
Moving forward into what we hope will be a more optimistic 2021, we are committed to continuing to provide regular Thursday evening rehearsals for our members, either via Zoom or in-person, depending on the Tier regulations at the time.
Concert plans, of course, are challenging, but we are forging ahead and looking forward to sharing our work with live audiences again later this year, when we hope things may begin to return to some normality!
If you've missed singing during these very strange times, and would like to be part of our choir, you will be most welcome.
